Flixx Jobs
A job search app for Sierra Leone, designed end to end, from user research to a hi-fi prototype.
The project
Flixx Jobs is a self-initiated UX case study for a mobile job search app aimed at people looking for work in Sierra Leone: Find your next career. Explore all jobs in Sierra Leone. The study covers both sides of the market, the job seekers and the recruiters who hire them.
Process
I worked through the design-thinking process and documented each stage, so every screen can be traced back to something I learned from users.
Empathise: user research
Quantitative and qualitative research, from which I pulled out user needs and pain points.
Define: personas and goals
A problem statement with objectives and goals, two personas (a job seeker and a recruiter), and an empathy map for each way of looking at the problem.
Ideate: structure before screens
Brainstorming and card sorting fed the information architecture, so the app’s navigation was settled before any visual design.
Prototype
Low-fidelity wireframes first, then a high-fidelity prototype in Figma.
Final design
The prototype covers an onboarding screen, a home feed of the most popular jobs with category chips such as accounting, sales and tech, a job detail view with requirements and the skills needed, and a list of the jobs a user has applied for, with recommendations.
Results and learnings
This is a self-initiated project, so there are no launch metrics to report. What it delivers is the research trail, the persona-led structure of the app, and a hi-fi prototype ready for usability testing.
